8 Day Central Otago Cycle Trail Tour – 300kms of Great Cycling!

Four totally different environments, with a twist! This trip encompasses four of our magic Central Otago cycle trails; the “Original Great Ride” The Otago Central Rail Trail, the spectacular Roxburgh Gorge and the riverside Clutha Gold. Finally finish with the latest Great Ride, The Lake Dunstan Trail.

Suggested 8 Day Central Otago Self Guided Cycle Tour 

Possible Big Loop Tour Itinerary 

• Pre ride – 2pm collection by us from Queenstown – informative tour back to Clyde, free use of bikes overnight to explore the local area.

Then begin your trip;

Day 1– 37kms Clyde to Omakau / Ophir via river track and Chatto Creek
(Overnight Nicky’s Place)

Day 2 – 41.5kms Ophir / Omakau to Wedderburn – enjoy the stunning Poolburn Gorge (maybe some curling late afternoon)
(Overnight Wedderburn Lodge & Cottages)

Day 3 – 46kms Wedderburn to Hyde via Rural Art Deco, Ranfurly, then the upper Taieri Gorge enjoy another tunnel and viaduct.
(Overnight Hyde School Accommodation & Eatery)

Day 4– 27kms Hyde to Middlemarch, pass the site of one of NZ’s worst train disasters and in to the small town of Middlemarch. Transfer to Lawrence at 2pm
(overnight Lawrence Townhouses with Massage chairs and a spa)

Day 5– 43kms Lawrence to Millers Flat via The Big Hill Tunnel, Lonely Graves and Horseshoe bend bridge  
(overnight The Quince Boutique BnB)

Day 6– 30kms Millers Flat to Lake Roxburgh Village via Roxburgh town and Pinders Pond. 
(overnight Lake Roxburgh Lodge)

Day 7– 33kms Lake Roxburgh Village to Clyde the spectacular Roxburgh Gorge and Alexandra to Clyde Anniversary River Trail
(overnight Dunstan House).

Day 8 – 40.2kms Lake Dunstan Trail
5pm transferred back Queenstown

What you get on the Big Loop Tour:
• Hire latest Trek Roscoe 7’s, these have 27+ wheels and tyres for the smoothest and have hydraulic disc brakes. These come with; helmet, tool kit, drop down panniers, dual density gel seats and ergo grips. We also have Electric Bikes – Merida CC600 Step through and E Big 7 / 9 Unisex
• Accommodation with continental breakfast
• All transfers including luggage
• Informative 1.5 hour drive from Queenstown
